Individual Counseling: We work with students individually for a number of problems a student might present; such as difficulty in the classroom/playground/bus, conflict resolution, difficulty coping at school, etc. Referrals for students to meet with one of us can be made by classroom teachers or other school staff, by parents, or through students' self-referrals.
We are looking forward to working with you and your children. Our overall goal is to help the students of Berlin McKinney develop more positive skills that will enable them to become self-directed learners, clear and effective communicators, collaborative workers, creative problem-solvers, and responsible citizens...now, and in the future. If you have any questions or concerns about your child that you would like to discuss with us, please feel free to call or email.
Meet the Counselor
My name is Ashley Cook. I have been in the school system for several years. I am a graduate of Man High School, and received a bachelors degree from Marshall University in Counseling. I live in Oceana with my husband Nick and daughter Lindsey. Nick is a teacher and coach at Westside High School.
I am an itinerant counselor, which means I split my time between two schools. I am at Berlin McKinney Elementary in the mornings Monday through Friday, and at Oceana Middle School in the afternoons Monday through Friday.
As a school counselor, I am an advocate for your child and will work closely with both you and the school to ensure that your child is successful both academically and emotionally. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Because I am at two schools, the best way to contact me is via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), but you may also call the schools and leave a message for me (Berlin, 304-682-6481 or OMS 304-682-6296).
