Meet Our Title I Team

Title I team

What is Title I?

Title I is the largest federal education program in the United States, created under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. It was part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's efforts to fight poverty by ensuring all students-regardless of background-have access to a quality education.

Purpose of Title I

Title I provides federal funding to public schools to help students who are at risk of falling behind academically. In Wyoming County, all schools serving students in Kindergarten through 8th grade receive Title I support.

These funds are used to offer additional educational services that help students succeed, especially in Math and English Language Arts.
